Carissa and Ibrahim live in New York, but traveled all the way across the country for their big day! I was stoked when I was asked to photograph their Jamison’s Event Center wedding. The bride grew up in Moses Lake, the groom in Turkey. You can bet there were some fun nods to both of their backgrounds, as well as to their life as New Yorkers. I mean, the couple had some authentic Turkish desserts flown in from New York for their reception and the cutest NYC favor boxes that looked like yellow cabs! But that wasn’t even the best part- their wedding was the last hurrah of a three-day 4th of July weekend spent with their closest friends and family. The festivities included a family lip sync contest, a family BBQ and even a fireworks display!
The couple decided to do their own thing for their ceremony, which is what I want for all my couples- to have a day that is truly them. Carissa and Ibrahim didn’t have a wedding party, officiated their own ceremony and had family members give the official blessing.
I just seriously loved everything about their intimate Jamison’s Event Center wedding!
The bride wore a classic satin gown with no embellishments and colorful flowers in her hair. She looked absolutely stunning! Carissa definitely pulled off the effortless bridal look. Ibrahim chose a simple navy blue suit and looked very much like a New York groom. Together, they killed it!
While the groom’s parents were unable to make the trip from Turkey to Moses Lake, they were able to witness parts of the day thanks to FaceTime! It was so sweet to see them congratulating their new daughter in law over video chat. I definitely teared up! Ibrahim’s sister was able to be there and they shared a special brother/sister dance in lieu of the mother/son dance.
