Megan and Josh had a sweet, romance-filled Lake Wilderness Lodge wedding this summer. I just loved how they shared their love story in little ways throughout their day- like through their vows and through all the fun pictures of them scattered through their reception space, for example. When I first met Megan and Josh the day of their engagement session it was clear how much the other meant to them. They both wore their love for each other on their sleeves. And it was still evident on their wedding day.
We started the day with Megan and her bridesmaids getting ready at the Silver Cloud Inn Tacoma. The hotel is right on the Tacoma waterfront which served as a great backdrop for Megan and Josh’s first look. I’m such a big fan of first looks because it gives us a chance to get another set of couples portraits in a different location, and who doesn’t love more photos? Sometimes my couples do their first look with just the two of them (plus me, of course) but sometimes my couples like to have their bridal party and family there to witness the special moment which is what Megan and Josh did. There’s really no right or wrong way to do it! I did like seeing everyone’s reactions alongside my couples’ reactions. It make me tear up I’ll admit.
After the first look, we made our way to the Lake Wilderness Lodge in Maple Valley.
Lake Wilderness Lodge weddings are so picturesque because you can have your ceremony right in front of the lake and your reception inside the lodge, which has floor to ceiling windows looking out at the lake. There’s also a cute little park connected to the parking lot which we used for bridal party and sunset couples portraits.
