Wait until you see these Yakima wedding photos that will bring you some inspiration for planning your own desert themed celebration! I think ‘Take Me to the Desert’ would work so beautifully for a wedding reception. It would also work for a bridal shower or engagement party! This theme is perfect if you enjoy living in or visiting this area of Central/Eastern Washington.
I’m always looking for ways to be inspired by and incorporate nature in my shoots. I spend a lot of time outdoors- whether its short hikes and camping with my family or photographing couples out in nature. So when I heard about a desert inspired styled bridal shoot hosted by Desert and Ash Design in Yakima, I knew I had to be part of it!
The shoot details
This shoot drew on some of the muted, earthy tones in the surrounding hills and sagebrush. Rolling tumbleweeds were brought in for a lot of the larger, focal pieces on the set too. You’ll notice it in the large installation above the sweetheart table, the model’s ‘flower’ crown and as accents on the tablescape. I also liked the earthy greens that showed up in the cupcakes.
We photographed this set in the Desert and Ash studio in downtown Yakima. I love the way the natural elements popped against the more industrial look of the brick walls. There were also rustic elements throughout. For example, the distressed dresser repurposed as a dessert table.
Overall it was a beautifully crafted set. I adore what the Desert an Ash Design team put together for us. I had a great time at this fun styled shoot. I’m so glad I make time to attend one or two each year. It’s a great way to meet other photographers and vendors, check out new style trends and get creative!
Check out some of my favorite images from the set! And be sure to save these Yakima wedding photos for inspo!
