I was so excited when Chrystan and Kirk reached out to me to photograph their Tierra Retreat Center wedding in Leavenworth! Leavenworth is one of my absolute favorite places to visit. It’s such a charming, quaint Bavarian styled town nestled in the Cascade mountains, about two hours from Seattle. Part of the charm, besides the downtown shops and restaurants, is the fact that the town is surrounded by mountains, hiking trails, rivers and creeks and beautiful vistas- which makes the perfect year-round backdrop for gorgeous PNW outdoor weddings.
Tierra Retreat Center is conveniently located just a few miles from downtown Leavenworth. The venue has a handful of great features- including the main lodge and reception lawn, an outdoor amphitheater for ceremonies, sprawling meadows, walking trails (to all the best photo spots!), a dedicated yoga yurt and suites for overnight accommodations.
I got to explore Tierra Retreat Center when I met Chrystan and Kirk for their engagement session the year before. I loved that they incorporated their venue in their engagement session!
Tierra Retreat Center is a stunning Leavenworth wedding venue, so why not?
We started Chrystan and Kirk’s big day at the venue’s main lodge, where the two were able to get ready with their bridesmaids and groomsmen. The main lodge has several getting ready rooms in different areas of the building which means both the bride and groom can get ready in the same place without worrying about running into each other before the first look or ceremony!
Pro tip: getting ready in the same place helps the photography timeline run much more smoothly! But it’s a convenience, not a requirement!
The day started off with some rain (that’s fall in the PNW for ya!) and admittedly has us all worried. Not because there was no rain plan in place, but because Chrystan and Kirk had their heart set on an outdoor ceremony. They got their wish though, as the sun came out right as they were having their first look. I mean literally right as Chrystan was walking towards Kirk to tap him on the shoulder. Talk about timing!
The rest of the day unfolded beautifully and it was such an honor to witness all the love surrounding Chrystan and Kirk as they exchanged their vows.
