Leavenworth makes a stunning backdrop for engagement sessions year-round but there is something so special about a snowy Leavenworth engagement! Especially when it’s close to Christmastime! The whole town looks like it’s straight out of a snow globe, it’s seriously so magical. Leavenworth is one of my favorite places to be personally and as a wedding photographer. It’s quickly become one of the most popular places my couples request for their sessions these days- not matter the season!
Christmas engagement photos in Leavenworth
When Lupita and Josh told me they wanted to head to Leavenworth for their session, I immediately began crossing my fingers for some snow. I thought it would add such a romantic element to their photos, but you never really know if the weather will end up cooperating or not. But it actually ended up snowing for a couple of days leading up to their shoot! I decided to take them to Waterfront Park near downtown Leavenworth to escape the crowds for a little bit.
Pro tip: Leavenworth in December can get really crowded. Like, really crowded because of the Christmastown celebration. But it is still possible to have your session there, and have it go smoothly, with a little planning. For example, scheduling on a weekday vs weekend. Planning to arrive an extra hour or two before your session is also smart to give you time to look for parking. You could always use that extra time to grab lunch, or window shop. Or my favorite- make a trip out of it! If you stay overnight then you have a dedicated place to park at your hotel and won’t have to fight the crowds. It’ll be so fun and romantic to go from engagement session to date night out in Leavenworth.
After spending some time by the river, we walked up to the main street to get some festive photos with the Christmas lights. If you’re in Leavenworth when they’re on, it’s a must!
